Visiting Venice?
Unlimited travel on the city’s public transport system is possible by several means. You may have heard past visitors talk about the Venice Card. Now called “Venice Connected”, this is best purchased at least 14 days before you leave home. Read about it on www.veniceconnected.com. There is also a “Tourist Travel Card” that is available for periods from 12 hours to 7 days. Buy this from any vaporetto pier (water bus stop) that has a ticket booth.
Art in Madrid
The wonderful art museums of Madrid are open FREE to vistors on Sundays. Get there early, queues can get long.
Driving in Europe
Many countries in Europe expect you to carry an INTERNATIONAL DRIVERS PERMIT along with your national license. In Italy and Greece (among others) you cannot pick up a rental car without this permit. But even if you are just driving through, Italy, for example and you are unlucky enough to get stopped for a traffic infringement – the driver of your car will be expected to have this permit. Check with the AA for up to date information.
Greek Ferries
For the peak period of late June through to the end of September, don’t expect to be able to just wander down to the ticket office minutes before a ferry departs. Advance bookings are essential. Contact us, we can help.
