Venice, the Queen of the Adriatic is captivating. Like any treasure, time has faded some of heredges, which has become her enduring charm. Still beautiful beyond description Venice leaves the palpable tingle of romance in the air.
A lazy punt along the canals is de rigeur, as is a visit to St Mark’s – one of the most spectacular houses of worship in the world. Consecrated in 1094, it’s famous for golden mosaics and the 12th century marble pavement outside.
