Sporades
In the group of islands known as the Sporades or the “Green Islands”, Skiathos is green, soft and idyllic with some 70 sandy inlets, several bays and three harbours. As well as the beaches and excursions by motor launch there are some fine 16th century ruins to explore. The nights can be especially lively with tavernas, cosy bars and night spots.
Skopelos, another fertile island – the island’s main industry is drying prunes – has a history that goes back to 1600BC. Explore with excellent walks among the herbs and butterflies. Skopelos is the pretty island fetured in the movie “Mama Mia”.
